Speaker biographies
Ewan Campbell-Lendrum
Ewan is a Chartered Environmentalist and Member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment. Following graduation Ewan worked as an Environmental Consultant in Scotland for five years before joining Bechtel in 1997 where he was responsible for overseeing environmental management for the construction of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link.
In 2003 Ewan joined engineering consultancy Atkins where he was Environmental Manager and then Health, Safety and Environmental Manager for their joint venture upgrading Stations and Civil infrastructure on the London Underground. Ewan joined Infinis in July 2007.
Tim Fenn
Tim is presently Managing Director of the Green Carbon group of companies which focus on the design and construction of eco-houses, built using modern methods of construction (MMC) together with the development of associated ancillary products such as insulation, heat recovery ventilation, micro-energy generation, low energy lighting and sustainable materials.
After graduating from University of Reading with a degree in Soil Science, Tim spent his early working career working in Africa as an Agroforestry/permaculture specialist consulting to WWF South Africa, African National Congress and various international Aid agencies. Tim returned to England to take over the family construction business (Oakwood Builders & Joinery LTD) and developed it into a leading Eco-refurbishment company winning numerous training, customer care and environmental awards. The company grew from 8 to 60 people.
Tim is also a member of the SE Judging panel for the National Training Awards, Oxfordshire County Council Adult Education Advisory Committee, Innovative Construction Skills Forum (ICSF), Oxford Brookes Professional Liaison Group and Oxfordshire Construction Training Group.
Paul Gregson
Paul currently holds the role of head of Human Resources at Infinis Limited. Paul qualified as a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) in 1988 whilst employed at the Central Electricity Generating Board. Following a period in a senior HR role within General Electric – GE Capital (UK), Paul joined Saint-Gobain Building Distribution in 2000, where he occupied a role as Head of Human Resources for the Jewson brand until joining Infinis in November 2006.
Paul has recently been involved in introducing a new call-out and stand-by regime, so that the company can react more quickly to environmental requirements on the sites. This means that the organisation can have their on-site engines and plant back up to speed more quickly if there are ever ‘trips’ on the national electricity grid for example. Paul is also currently involved in developing new ideas for sports and social activities, which has, amongst other things, included a 5 a side football tournament to help build team spirits and morale.
Marcus Jamieson-Pond
Marcus Jamieson-Pond is the Corporate Social Responsibility Manager for Addleshaw Goddard, a Top 15 UK law firm. Before taking up this challenge in 2006, he spent 18 years working in various HR roles, up and including Director. The last 10 years have been based in London law firms.
Marcus has been instrumental in building his firm's CSR profile from scratch, including the setting of strategy and delivery of initiatives designed to engage people within the firm, the local communities and beyond. He is also the founder of the firm's Environment Committee and Community Involvement teams.
Marcus is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and is currently undertaking a programme with Common Purpose. He spends a great deal of his spare time writing articles and blog entries for the Addleshaw Goddard CSR website, which he established in May 2007.
Hugh Jones
Hugh Jones is Director of Solutions within the Carbon Trust, whose mission is to accelerate the move to a low carbon economy. Specifically, the Solutions department provides commercially viable solutions to deliver carbon emission reductions for business and the public sector. Last year the department worked with over four thousand UK companies to save over 1.4 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent, working across all sectors with customers ranging from FTSE 100 to SME.
Hugh has been with Carbon Trust for three years, having previously worked in international sales and consulting services for IBM and for PwC Consulting. He graduated from Cambridge University in Modern Languages, and specialises in European languages. He also holds a recent Environmental Technology MSc from Imperial College. His interests include music, travel, sport and cinema.
Jane Moger
Jane is currently Human Resources Director at restaurant Associates. Jane is a HR professional with over 15 years experience, having graduated with a BA Degree in Social Studies Jane has worked for B&Q, Rank and Whitbread in Operational and H.R roles and now at Compass.
Jane is IPD qualified and joined Compass in the UK in January 2002 as Resourcing & Retention Director. Jane then joined the Restaurant Associates team in 2004 as HR Director. Restaurant Associates, the Fine Dining sector of Compass Group, is one of the UK’s most exciting catering and business services providers, dedicated to offering inspired, contemporary solutions with a twist, offering RA Dining, RA Hospitality including Roux Fine Dining, RA Business Services and RA Hotels.
As HR Director Jane is responsible with her team for ensuring the correct policies are in place to attract, develop and retain great people, ensuring we are able to successfully mobilise new business whilst continuing to deliver great service to our existing clients. Jane’s current focuses are a new Service Strategy, Talent planning and co- leading the Lifestyle (CR) strategy.
Jennifer Wallace
Jennifer is an associate in Allen & Overy's Environmental Law Group who focuses on climate change and carbon trading issues. She advises on the EU Emissions Trading Scheme and its link to the Kyoto Protocol flexible mechanisms.
Jennifer has advised corporate and financial institutions on compliance with climate change regulation and the purchase of carbon credits from emission reduction projects in China South Korea, Brazil, New Zealand and Russia.
Debbie Whitaker
Debbie took up the role of Head of Sustainability, Corporate Affairs at Standard Chartered Bank in April 2007. Debbie is accountable for developing and implementing the Bank’s strategy on sustainability. This includes environment, community and social programmes, managing reputational risk and the reporting and governance of sustainable development.
Debbie has been with Standard Chartered 12 years and her previous role was Group Head, People Product Management, Group Human Resources. In this role Debbie was responsible for development and implementation of key people management products and processes across 50 plus countries, including performance and reward, resourcing, international mobility, executive development, diversity and inclusion, employee engagement and human capital measurement. Her portfolio also included people strategy, culture and values, and change management. During her career with Standard Chartered, she has been instrumental in implementing its strengths based people strategy, including its approach to employee engagement and human capital measurement and also leading change management projects across the bank.
